Third Issue Ten-Cent Note Washington on Obverse, Green Reverse The third issue began to roll off the presses in December of 1864. It introduced new measures to combat counterfeiters including printed and autographed signatures of the U.S. Treasurer and Assistant Treasurer, bronzed and embossed characters and numerals, and, in some cases, printer's positioning or "plate" marks. This pleasing example of a green-backed Freidberg #1255 has been given the "Choice" designation by PCGS. The reverse upper left reveals a plate number, this one of the rarer "mirrored" type as shown. A desirable grade for a discerning collector, and a plus for any collector who pays special attention to plate numbers. PCGS Graded 55, Choice About New FR 1255
